Intro to Addition

Posted by jlafrance under Uncategorized

We have begun working on addition, with the aid of manipulatives. I have been giving the children a number problem, such as “Start with 3 pennies. Add 2 more pennies. How many pennies do you have all together?” Today we also tried writing number sentences. Children are growing familiar with the symbols and vocabulary of “plus” and “equals”. Try challenging your child to some addition problems at home!
