The Lawrence School Bulldogs hosted a football game against the Mashpee Falcons on Friday, October 8, 2010. Our game scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 6th was rescheduled to Friday because of rain. Compared to last year’s match-up against Mashpee, the Falmouth Bulldogs showed a big improvement, but it wasn‘t enough for a win. The Mashpee team had a two touchdown lead early in the game. The bulldogs put up a good fight, but the final score was Mashpee 33 to Falmouth 27.
The high moment of this game for Falmouth came on a kick return. The Falcon’s kick went up and was caught by # 16, Curtis Brown, who ran it all the way back for what should have been a touchdown. It was a beautiful play, but unfortunately there was a penalty. The TD was called back when a Falmouth player was flagged for clipping (an illegal block from the back).
The Bulldogs have a lot of good athletes on the team. We need work on thins like keeping our blocks solid, preventing sloppy tackling, and avoiding penalties. With continued hard work and maybe a little luck, we’ll have that improvement in time for our next game on Wednesday, October 20 at Nauset. The Nauset game will be our only away game this season. A win on the road would be nice.
