Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to third grade! I hope that you have been able to relax and enjoy this amazing summer. I am excited about the new year that is approaching. Below you will find the “Welcome” letter that was given to your child on “Move-Up Day” (or sent with his/her report card) as well as our supply list. Enjoy the rest of August. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Grade Three! Today I got to meet your delightful child who will be in my class in September. We spent about 30 minutes together in our classroom (Room 202) which is located in the third grade pod on the main floor. During our time together, we tried out one of our morning meeting greetings, played “Get to Know You Bingo” and talked about writing letters to each other over the summer (paper and envelope provided). I have also provided a journal for your child to use to capture his/her summer adventures. Your child is welcome to bring it in to school in September for some early extra credit. Over the summer, remind your child to read, read, read and practice the addition and subtraction facts so he/she has them memorized for the beginning of third grade.
I have attached a school supply list for each student to please bring when school starts. These items do not have to be brand new, and if you have trouble finding some of these things, let me know. We will have supplies in the classroom for anyone who needs them. I also included an optional “wish list” of classroom supplies, as these are things I know we will use often. I enjoy catching all of those early back-to-school sales, so I thought you might like an advanced peek at our list in case you like to catch them too.
In addition to writing letters, email and our classroom blog (see link below) are great ways you and your child can communicate with me over the summer. This will be my second year using a blog, and I hope you all come to love it as much as I do. Check it out when you have a chance!
It was wonderful seeing so many of your children on this last day of school and it will be even better seeing them, and you, back next year! Have a safe and fun summer! See you in September!
Ms. Holly Sawyer
